BSNL Launched Mobile WiMAX in Goa
Govt. owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) launched the 4G High speed wireless broadband service called WiMAX on Monday 29th June 2009 in Goa. The WiMAX or "Worldwide interoperability for Microwave Access" is a telecommunications technology that provides wireless transmission of data at a very haigh rate of upto 37mbps.
BSNL has currently installed twenty five base transreceiver stations on mobile towers across the state of Goa predominantly in coastal and urban areas to serve the purpose and BSNL aims to take the benefits of broadband to customers across the state of Goa.
WiMAX can be accessed through a simple plug and play indoor device called the Customer Premise Equipment or CPE which allows upgrades to future upgrades as well.BSNL will commissioned the remainnig BTS's(Base Transmitting Station) soon.
