BSNL WIMAX COVERAGEBSNL has widened its WiMax wireless internet services in Kerala. The WiMax service will be now available at 348 base stations in the urban areas of Kerala Circle which includes Trichur , Malappuram, Palaghat, Alleppey, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam and Kollam districts.
Earlier this service was available at Ernakulam, Thiruvananthapuram , Calicut , Kannur , Kasargod, and Wayanad Districts .
Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access, known as the WiMax for short, is an approved Broadband Wireless Access [BWA] technology in India. BSNL is the only operator who has the licensed spectrum to operate the same currently in the country.
This technology is a4G technology which offers speed upto 32 Mbps and is different from the current wireless technologies like EDGE, EVDO etc. The data transfer occurs via wireless modem which can be placed interior/exterior or via usb dongle.
